Get to know the Lost City Trek circuit <\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nestled deep in the jungle of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the Lost City of Tayrona <\/a>has been lost for centuries<\/strong>. It was not until 1972 that it was discovered by a group of grave robbers. Although it was kept isolated for decades by guerrilla and paramilitary groups, today it is completely safe to travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The route starts in El Mamey and there are only two options to complete the trip: 4 days or 5 days.<\/strong>. During this period of time you will walk to the ruins of the Lost City and return in the same way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The circuit is by no means easy, in fact it is one of the most challenging.<\/strong>. It is full of steep climbs and several river crossings. The weather is often a differentiating factor as, if you decide to go during the rainy season, the water level of the rivers is usually higher and the road is often muddy, making the challenge to the Lost City even more difficult. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The humidity will be with you throughout the entire trek. As you know, water is present in all forms in the jungle, so you will be sweating all day long. The good news is that you will have the opportunity to swim in any of the many rivers along the way, so you will always be able to cool off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is no other way to get to the ruins but through the 23-kilometre trail through the jungle.<\/strong>It is therefore very important that you do not stray from the path. During the tour you will have the opportunity to meet members of the Kogi tribe<\/strong>. This indigenous group is one of the direct descendants of the Tayronas and is the only one that preserves the customs and traditions of their ancestors.
