The lakes change their appearance depending on the time of year: covered with ice and snow in winter, with clear waters and surrounded by green after the thaw - the volume of water often drops considerably in summer. They are usually found above 2,000 m above sea level and are surrounded by a varied and beautiful landscape of meadows and mountain ridges.
