{"id":30319,"date":"2021-10-26T07:02:00","date_gmt":"2021-10-26T05:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/travesiapirenaica.com\/?p=30319"},"modified":"2024-03-22T12:14:19","modified_gmt":"2024-03-22T11:14:19","slug":"thermal-sensation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/travesiapirenaica.com\/en\/sensacion-termica\/","title":{"rendered":"Thermal Sensation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although we have probably heard many times about the thermal sensation due to cold or heat, and we have a rough idea, we may not know exactly what it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The thermal sensation of cold or heat gives us an idea of the sensation of cold or heat that a person feels according to a combination of meteorological parameters. Two different concepts that, in order to understand, we will look at separately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Winter mountaineering: Tips for a safe WINTER HIKE\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/j9MZpPN8578?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wind Chill or wind chill<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The wind chill depends on the combination of two factors: temperature and wind; and is calculated for temperatures below 10\u00b0C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea is based on the theory of heat transfer. On the skin of the human body there is a thin layer of warm air a few millimetres thick. As the wind rises, it carries away the heat from the bare skin, which increases the heat loss from the human body and makes us feel colder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It follows from this approach that cold wind chill only affects uncovered skin, which makes the clothing worn and the correct combination of clothing and clothing accessories particularly important. <a href=\"https:\/\/travesiapirenaica.com\/en\/how-to-dress-montana-3-layer-system\/\"><strong>layer system<\/strong><\/a>. In adverse conditions it is particularly important to cover the extremities with gloves and balaclavas, especially when there is a risk of frostbite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following table, drawn up by AEMET (Agencia Estatal de Meteorolog\u00eda), gives a quantitative idea of how wind affects the sensation of cold, and the danger of frostbite on bare skin. When the relative humidity of the air is high, the evaporation of sweat is hindered, which increases the sensation of heat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As with cold, heat can cause different health disorders: fatigue, sunstroke, heat stroke or cramps.
