The crampons pierce the crust of snow, producing that pleasant crunching sound so similar to that of trampled leaf litter when autumn is raging in the deciduous trees. The landscape sounds while the darkness of the almost-morning day lingers on in the only-five-minutes-more of the whirling of ordinary mortals. Mountaineering... Who would send us...? We came here to be better people, but we have long since realised that goodness is not to be found here; also that mountaineering is a human activity and, as such, carries on its shoulders all that is human. We don't need to dwell too long on this issue, we already know what we are talking about. To that anthropological disgust that has pushed many bodies towards the desire to disappear. Or to be reborn better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, we only do mountaineering for the sound of space. And that's enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
