<strong>Waterfalls Trail<\/strong> o <strong>Sentier des Cascades<\/strong>near Cauterets, is one of the simplest and most beautiful routes that we can do throughout the Pyrenees.<\/font><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A pleasant walk, suitable for children, to spend a quiet day, or to combine with any of the other excursions in the area: Marcadau valley, lac de Gaube or Chemin thanks to the bus service.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Trail of the Cascades is a linear route of about 4.5 kilometres and 440 metres of vertical drop between La Raill\u00e8re and the Pont d'Espagne.<\/strong> which can be made in both directions, or only in one of the two directions. In this case, <strong>the best option is to take the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cauterets.com\/ligne-de-bus-urbain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bus between Cauterets and the Pont d'Espagne, stopping at La Raill\u00e8re<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you take the bus, it is advisable to start at the Pont d'Espagne and go downhill to La Raill\u00e8re, where this route and the description of the route ends. If you wish to extend a little further to Cauterets (3km), you have two options, along the \"Chemin Desmontzey\" or the \"Chemin des Peres\", the latter visiting the beautiful Pisse-Arros waterfall (Lutour waterfall).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/travesiapirenaica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/pisse-arros-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-36422\" srcset=\"https:\/\/travesiapirenaica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/pisse-arros-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/travesiapirenaica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/pisse-arros-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/travesiapirenaica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/pisse-arros-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/travesiapirenaica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/pisse-arros-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/travesiapirenaica.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/pisse-arros.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Pisse-Arros waterfall<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"color:#c45a25\"><b>A recommendation.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If we are going to spend several days in the area, this route is ideal for one of those cloudy days when the mountains are covered, because here the most beautiful thing is the path through the forest next to the river and of course, the impressive waterfalls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Pont d'Espagne, a bit of history.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Pont d'Espagne<\/strong> was built in 1886, at the same time as the road, to replace the old wooden footbridge located here. The bridge is located just after the confluence of the Gave de Gaube and the Gave de Marcadau (together they will form the Gave de J\u00e9ret), and was a constant crossing point for traders from both sides of the Pyrenees who exchanged animals and products across the valley and the Marcadau pass, at an altitude of 2,541 metres.
