Some runners continue their running routines despite inclement weather. Others simply find running in the rain, cold or snow appealing. During the winter months, the temperature drops considerably, but that doesn't mean you should stay indoors tucked up and drinking hot chocolate.

If you are a keen runner, you can continue your training regardless of the weather conditions. However, you will have to modify your routes so that snow and ice do not represent a problem for your safety and the risk of accidents is considerable.

For example, avoid high mountain trails and opt for routes in the valley bottoms. Or perhaps, depending on the weather or your situation, city routes may be an alternative. This may be the time to train speed and power routines, and leave the longer aerobic workouts for a better time.

Once you've modified your route and training form, you'll need to select some accessories to make your experience more comfortable. Read on to find out what winter running gear is a must-have in your wardrobe.
