Manuel Jos\u00e9 Cuartero, leader of Basajaun & Lauburu, crowned his fifth ascent of Pico Almanzor in solitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intoxicated by the spectacle, he sat on the edge of the cliff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His feet dangled above a sea of clouds as he let himself be cradled by a light breeze that caressed his face. Her trembling breaths calmed after the effort of the last stretch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soon the place worked its magic. The chronic fatigue he had been carrying for several months vanished. It was as if the mountain rewarded him with an extraordinary lucidity about the problems that disturbed his sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, up there, everything looked different. It was as if the real reason for his concerns was suddenly revealed. Allowing him to discern between the innocuous and the really important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only then, seized by the moment, did he allow himself to cry. Tears drew furrows on his sun-browned complexion from all the roads he had travelled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
