It is so exuberant that it contains hints of the Roman Empireof the subsequent Gothic conquestsof the Christians who were forced to take refuge here with the arrival of the Arabsand many other events that completely changed the history of our country. The construction of a small town took place here, built on direct orders from Philip IIShe was also a very important ally for the Philip V in the War of Succession. It was a key place in the Roussillon War, and even the War of Independence and the Carlist Wars. happened under the watchful eye of this historic town.

All this great history is complemented by countless artistic and historical monuments that populate every corner of the city, such as the enormous St Peter's Cathedralthe great and extensive Museum of Military Miniaturesand even the Fort RapitanThe latter is located at the northern end of the town.

We can also visit the Town Hallfounded more than five hundred years ago, the Benedictine Monasteriesthe Old Park or the lush and beautiful Church of Santiago. The San Juan de la Peña Monasteryalso steeped in history, is located close to this city, which completes a location full of events that you should know about.

Finally, what rounds off an experience that is already quite complete, are the joyful and hospitable festivities of Jaca, such as the Pyrenees Folklore Festival or the First Friday in May Festival. If you have any other favourite activity, you may well find it in the city of Jaca, as it dazzles in so many ways that it is a must-see for anyone who wants to experience a piece of Spanish history.

READ ALSO:

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

5
["post-6162","post","type-post","status-publish","format-image","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pirineos","post_format-post-format-image
https://travesiapirenaica.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Ciudadela-de-Jaca_por-Juanedc.jpg_760x500.jpg
https://travesiapirenaica.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Caratula-Podcast-Maldita-Montana_1500x1500_72pp-p_.jpg
