How do I get to Font l'adou (Bagà)?

Font l'adou is almost two hours by car from Barcelona and only six kilometres from Bagà. Leaving from there, take the road that goes in the direction of Gisclareny. Once you reach the Sant Joan bridge, you have to cross the Bastareny river. Before crossing it, you will find a forest track on the right, which you should take and follow for about 4 km, until you see a small stone bridge, called Sant Joan Bridge. If you continue along a small path on the left hand side, you will reach the source of the river.

The route can be done by car, although it is generally recommended to do the whole route on foot or by bicycle to enjoy the natural surroundings, as it is signposted and it is an experience that you can take advantage of to get some exercise.

The excursion to the river Bastareny

The source of the Bastareny river is in the municipality of Gisclareny, at the Fonts de l'Adou, which are located at an altitude of 1,077 metres. They are located six kilometres from the village of Bagà, in Alt Berguedà, and it is a fairly simple excursion from the forest track that starts at the Pont de Sant Joan bridge.

Along the way you can see an incredibly rich vegetation of wild pines, hazel and holly trees, among many other species. Likewise, the sound and sight of the water is a beautiful sight to see and hear, especially if you are travelling with young children.

This excursion, of course, requires you to wear comfortable shoes and sports clothes because it is a path with some difficulties such as rocks, logs, etc. For this reason, it is also not recommended that you take a baby pram.

Places to eat and sleep near Font l'adou

Font l'adou has a variety of restaurants and places to eat in the surrounding area. The furthest is about 30 minutes away (13 and a half kilometres) and others are about seven kilometres away (20 minutes by car), in Baga.

As for places to sleep, there are a huge number of places in Baga, although it is possible to find a few. However, considering that Barcelona is only 136 kilometres away, you can consider going to Font l'adou simply as an excursion.
