Le Cote Basque

We are back.

We close part I of this exploratory journey and the music of HowdySS echoes within us... oh! sadness.

We have generated a lot of material that we have to process little by little, but for the meeting in the Aezkoa Valley we were able to make a small preview of what the first 2, yes the 2, days of the trip were like; the Basque Coast.

What did we see there?

We will leave on Saturday 27 August from Donostia-San Sebastian, as part of the Itsasfestwhere we presented the project and set up our installation as a means of interacting with people; 3 sticks, an Olivetti Lettera 32 and a bottle filled with messages that went from sea to sea.

There we got into the van and set off on a journey that would bring us a thousand and one anecdotes, interesting people, collectives, experiences... The richness of this journey is beastly! We had already said it, hadn't we? We'll have to wait for part II...

First story, Amarenakright there in Donostia-San Sebastián. Oihane Pardo spoke to us passionately about his project: rethinking the Kaikus (traditional Basque costume) with designs adapted to modern times.

Visit to the Rowing Club Hibaika and listen to Igor Gómez telling us how they are developing a prototype piece for rowing, in something as traditional as rowing boats.

From the hand of Mikel Valerowe got to know the self-managed space Lakaxite in Irún and the community garden Aldatsa Baratza in Hondarribia.

We follow the route and approach the Baleapop in Saint Jean de Luz-Donibane Loizune. There we caught up with them at the end of what had been an intense 5-day festival of art and music. We had the opportunity to interview Manu Matthys y Nahia Zubeldiaof the duo Lumi y members of the collective Möi-Möi (festival organiser), whom we were able to see at their best.

And so ended our first days on the cross-border route, and there are still 10 whole days to go!!!
