Lac de Gèry
From the beginning of March until the end of September there is a place where you can find incredible landscapes, activities for all the family and prices to suit all budgets, all very close to the border between Spain and France! It's Lac de Gèry, a very special place you'll want to go to and you'll be totally hooked.
How to get to Lac de Gèry
To get to Lac de Gèry from nearby Marignac take the road east on Rue des Moulins. After 40 metres turn left onto Rue Jean Jaurès/D44 and continue on the D44 for 1.7 kilometres. Then turn left onto Rap and continue for 350 metres.
Then you simply take the road to Chemin de Géry and after only 350 metres you have to take the exit on the right to continue driving for another 220 metres. You will then arrive at the closest point to the Lac de Gèry.
What you can find in Lac de Gèry
Lac de Gèry has a wealth of activities to suit all types of people. If you like sport fishing, you can bring your fishing rod to catch some trout and the fee is only 10 Euros. You can also take your children for a pony ride along the trails around the lake, which only costs around 5 Euros.
You can also take the opportunity to try a super entertaining activity where you can bring out your competitive spirit: mini-golf. At only 3 euros, this activity can keep you entertained for a while and you can share it with friends, your partner or family.
If you want to take a short trip on the lake, then take advantage of the boats for hire. The ride costs between 5 and 8 euros, depending on how many minutes you want to use it.
Obviously, if your idea is to spend a nice day without spending too much, you can take a walk around the trails surrounding the Lac de Gèry and take some pictures of the amazing scenery. You can also organise a nice picnic by bringing your own food, as this is allowed in the area.
Food and lodging in the Lac de Gèry area
As for accommodation in the Lac de Gèry area, it is important to clarify that you have to look for it in the surrounding area, as there are no inns or motels in the lake area. Lily Voyage is about 45 minutes from Lac de Gèry, while Domaine de Caubous is only 40 minutes away.
As for the food, in the lake area you'll find a restaurant where you can try typical Pyrenean food, and from 11 euros! If you go with your children or nieces and nephews, the children's menu is 6 euros, so everyone can share a tasty dinner without spending too much, and don't miss the opportunity to try some of the delicious fish that the restaurant offers thanks to its proximity to the lake!
