The capricious mountain

-by Mayra Berenice Nava Torres-

Yesterday I was able to conquer the summit of the majestic Malinche, I read a lot about her to try to get to know her and recognise her on my journey to the summit, at the beginning of my hike I knelt before her asking her permission to begin the ascent. I enjoyed its wooded path; full of fallen trees, ruts and semi-frozen earth. Then, as I entered its sandy terrain, it put me to the test by throwing a freezing wind at me and obstructing my view through the mist closed in front of me and I took it as an invitation to show it that I really wanted to know its peak; after a stretch, the sky opened up for a magical moment where the capricious mountain gave me permission and I could appreciate a little of one of its peaks and I was motivated to continue. The mist returned, but I kept going until I was able to conquer its summit and as a gift it let me enjoy the marvellous views.
