    Baiau Refuge - Arans

    ↔️ Distance: 14.9 km
    📈 Unevenness (+810),(-1.920) 📉
    🕒 Time: 6h25min (travel time non-stop)
⚠️ Difficulty: In early summer, a ski pole and crampons may be necessary in Port de Baiau.
💧 Water: Along the stage there are several streams.

Suggestions: From the Port de Baiau it is possible to climb the Pic de Coma Pedrosa in 30 minutes, the highlight of the Principality.

📌 (0h00min; 0 kms) Baiau Refuge or Josep María Montfort (2,517m). Descend to Baiau Lake and skirt it on the left, until you reach the bottom of Pico de Baiau -abandoning a path that ascends to Collada dels Estanys Forcats-. The path ascends between blocks, crosses a stream, and then continues along a path that leads to the top of the mountain. stream💧 where we can get water and the slope is still steep. In early summer crampons may be mandatory.

📌 (1h00min; 1.4 kms) Port de Baiau (2,757m). We enter Andorra. The Pyrenean path descends through the valley in a southerly direction.

📌 (1h20min; 2.1 kms) Estany Negre (2.640m). We skirt it to the left and continue down the path from the Basses d’Estany Negre, which we also follow to the left. The valley ends by opening onto the main valley of Coma Pedrosa. The path descends quickly, runs along the bottom of the valley, and leaves aside the detour to the Coma Pedrosa refuge before reaching…

📌 (2h30min; 4.6 kms) Collet de Coma Pedrosa (2,224m). From here, the path descends decisively. Towards the altitude of 1750m, we leave it to a wider path where it converges with the GR11-1 variant and the Gran Recorrido GRP (roundtrip to Andorra) and GRT (from the 3 Nations) trails. A sign welcomes us to the Comapedrosa Valley Common Natural Park; we continue descending, passing by a reservoir and reaching the first buildings in Arinsal. Crossing a road tunnel; on the other side we find a tourist information point. Continue on the road towards the center of the town.

📌 (4h15min; 9.5 kms) Arinsal (1,480m). At a roundabout in the central area, the Mas Ribafeta road leaves. We follow it until, after a couple of turns in the direction of the horses, at a bend to the right, a path appears that climbs very steeply and without rest towards the…

📌 (5h30min; 12.2 kms) Coll de les Cases (1.954m). The descent on the other side is also steep; among pines, it will quickly leave us at…

    📌 (6h25min; 14.9 kms) Arans (1,370m).
