    Arans - Encamp

    ↔️ Distance: 15.1 km
    📈 Unevenness (+1.050), (-1.150) 📉
    🕒 Time: 5h15min (travel time) non-stop)
⚠️ Difficulty: The climb and descent to the Coll d’Ordino are long.
💧 Water: Towards the middle of the stage we find the Fonta de la Navina.

📌 (0h0min;0km) Arans (1370m). Cross the road and leave Arans heading west along Carrer de la Font. Cross the Pont d’Arans over the Valira del Nord river and turn right at the junction, following a path parallel to the river. Shortly before reaching La Cortinada, the GR11 crosses the river again and leaves it on the road; we will follow it for 300m until we reach a bridge already in…

📌 (0h15min; 1.1kms) La Cortinada (1350m). We crossed the river again, source💧 on the left hand side, and we continue straight ahead along the Camí Vell, a narrow alleyway between stone houses. After about 80m, the street turns right and then left, until it leaves again next to the river💧 at the Pont del Vilar. The GR11 turns left and climbs up the Carrer de la Sola leaving behind La Cortinada. Further on, the path enters the forest, where it climbs up to face a 150m descent that ends at the Collet de les Planes – Solana del Saltader, a meadow with magnificent views over the valley of the Valira del Nord. We continue on a horizontal half-slope, passing the Sornàs river and ascending through the Becet forest; the path then descends and continues on broken ground until it reaches a track that leads down to Ordino. We will follow it for a kilometer.

📌 (2h05min; 6.6kms) Crossing Ordino (1380m). Marked with a wooden post, we continue towards the coll d’Ordino. Here begins the longest climb of the day. We leave the track and ascend to the left along a path through the valley of the river de les Aubes. After 15 minutes we leave on a path that we soon abandon to continue on foot. We pass some fences and reach a shelter next to a raft until a path leads to it. We follow it towards the west for about 200m until we see a path that ascends to the left. At an altitude of 1790m we leave on one of the hairpin bends of the road that ascends to the coll d’Ordino where there is a shelter and a source💧 (Fonta de la Navina). We will continue along the path, ascending a steep slope until we reach a path that we will follow to the left until…

📌 (3h35min; 10.5kms) Coll d’Ordino (1973m). The GR11 crosses the road and continues more or less horizontally through open terrain. It then enters the pine forest and continues south for a few minutes until the final descent begins that will take us to Encamp. Shortly before Encamp (which we will see for most of the descent), we will take a path that leads us to the Romanesque Hermitage of Sant Romà de les Bons.

    📌 (5h15min; 15.1kms) Encamp (1280m).
