    Planoles - Núria Sanctuary

    ↔️ Distance: 16.9 km
    📈 Unevenness (+1.440), (-750) 📉
    🕒 Time: 6h20min (running time non-stop)
⚠️ Difficulty: The accumulated difference in altitude. In Queralbs, the markings of the GR11 disappear, although some local trails that lead to the Sanctuary are signposted.
💧 Water: Throughout the stage there are numerous points where you can get water.

📌 (0h00min; 0 kms) Planoles – Crossing the start of the climb (1,260m). We will return to the crossing (see Previous stage), where the ascent to the Corral Blanc Refuge begins. If you come from the village, you can climb up the road to the campsite and take a steep path that leaves it on the right. Soon you reach a crossroads of paths where a sign marks 4 hours to Nuria (that is the time if we choose the GR11.8 variant). The path enters the pine forest; the slope is steep, constant throughout the ascent and, on several occasions, we will find the road that leads to the refuge itself. Just before the refuge, we will pass by a canteen area where there is a couple of sources💧.

📌 (1h10min; 2.2 kms) Corral Blanc Refuge (1.815m). We continue ascending along the road. The markings of the GR11 are scarce and the route coincides with another route marked in yellow and white. After about 500m, the yellow and white markings leave the road to follow a path; it is a small detour that we recommend you take.

📌 (1h25min; 2.9 kms) Collet de les Barraques (1,900m). We crossed a wire fence and began to descend; we met the track again, now made of earth and stone, which we followed until it ended shortly after in a meadow area. The GR11 continues in a gentle descent along a path, among pines, passing through a pair of streams.

📌 (2h00min; 4.7 kms) Font de L’Home Mort (1,800m). A trail leads from Vilamanya here. Cross the river💧 of Tosa -quite a large stream- through a narrow wooden footbridge; immediately afterwards the detour to Nuria via the GR11.8 (also marked in red and white) appears. Pay attention at this point. We then describe the route that descends to Queralbs. We follow the red and white markings to the right, along a path that we soon leave to continue along a path parallel to the river💧 on its left bank. We gradually move away from the river, passing a shepherds' shelter and later arriving at source💧 and Casa dels Plaus. Shortly afterwards we left for a track that we will follow briefly (100m) to the left. We passed a herd of cattle and shortly afterwards we abandoned it to follow a path to the left (trail) that takes us back to the track just before a big curve. We will continue on the track (left), always on the main one, ignoring a couple of crossings that go off to the left later, until we reach a herd of cattle near the village. After the curve, leave the track and take a path to the left (East) that takes us to the end of a concrete track that ends in a luxurious chalet. Descend down the track…

📌 (3h30min; 9.7 kms) Queralbs (1,230m). The brands disappear. We continue to leave behind the Church of San Jaume on the right. (source). It is worth visiting it. We will cross Queralbs following the street we came in from until we see some green signs indicating Nuria on the left. We follow them up, strolling along, without seeing any trace of the red and white markings. At the end of the village, the concrete road gives way to a path; we cross a narrow road and shortly afterwards we pass the Font de la Ruira, Just before we encounter the zipper trails. Shortly after, we will reach a junction; to the left, to Nuria by Roc del Dui; to the right, to Nuria by Pont de Cremal. The GR11 is to the right, although here we describe the route through Roc del Dui to connect 20 minutes later with the other route. Therefore, following to the left, we arrive in about 10 minutes to the…

📌 (4h15min; 11.9 kms) Corvell Oratory (1,480m) guided by the image of La Nurieta. Shortly after, a sign points to Nuria on the Pont de Cremal; we will follow it down some stairs until we reach the path that runs through the bottom of the valley. Towards the 1735m altitude we pass by the waterfall known as Cua de Cavall; we will make an extra effort to reach the Creu d’en Riba (1983m), viewpoint and highest point of the day. From here we will only have to make a gentle descent to the Santuario de Nuria, which we can already see. Before we pass by a source💧 (by Dr. Bassols).
