To begin with, we will have to take an uphill route, the GR95 and GR 1starting in the fountain-laundry of Sarsamarcuello.

To avoid the zigzagging of the track, you can find a shortcut in a cabin that has a steeper slope. When we reach the top of the slope, we will take a path that will accompany us along the entire route, coinciding first with a part of the ornithological route of Mirador de los Buitres. If you go a little further you will also link up with the Hoya de Huesca Nature Trail. A little further on we will come across a refuge, the Castle and the Hermitage of the Virgin of Marcuello. If we continue further we will find that the ornithological route continues to the left and we will have to continue straight on.

Continuing along the main road, we will soon arrive at the Santo Román pass. It is here that we will be able to see the entrance to the GR1 routewhich we will have to take, in order to go to Riglos. Passing through numerous pine trees, you will eventually come to a junction of forest tracks on your way down this route. We must continue to the left to continue down through a dense pine forest until we reach the Foz de Escalete. We will once again be part of a ornithological route, this time the one from La Peña - Foz de Escaletes. When we have finished crossing the gorge, we will change ornithological routes again and link up with the last remaining route: that of the La Peña reservoir. We just need to follow the road to reach our last stop: La Peña.
