A school bus has become the small house where a couple of friends plan an adventure for the planet. The two-year journey will start in Alaska and will take them to Argentina, crossing the American continent from north to south.

Why would anyone want to spend so much time on wheels in a bus? This initiative aims to reduce man's negative impact on the environment.

A "skoolie"eco-friendly

There is a trend to transform school buses into mobile homes for recreation and adventure. Such constructions are known as "skoolies". This Bluebird 2001In particular, it is characterised by the fact that it is made from recycled materials that are friendly to the planet.

The project is called 'Sustainabus‘. Its creators have been designing a minimalist piece powered by biodiesel, which features solar panels, wooden pallets, a composting toilet and other recyclable materials to meet basic needs.

Erik and Michael teamed up with the aim of raising awareness through sustainable travel. They will teach and advise on what to do to reduce our impact on the environment, all while travelling. Their journey will last two years and during this time they will have only the company of their pets.

Both say that with this small house on wheels they will have the freedom to travel to the places they want and to stop whenever they feel it is necessary. The space offers them the opportunity to provide for their primary needs, as they will be able to cook, sleep and use the toilet without having to get out of the vehicle. They will be a 'happy family' travelling with their two dogs.

In support of the planet

The 'Sustainabus'. will demonstrate that it is possible to live in harmony with the environment while enjoying a holiday. Through the social networks of the projectIn addition to the project's progress, followers will be able to see first-hand the progress of the adventure along with text, photos and videos on techniques for living a more sustainable life.

Erik and Michael dream big and are optimistic. They want to inspire others to - like them - treat the planet with love by travelling responsibly and implementing sustainable behaviour in their daily routines.

They will also try to give voice to, describe and show those actions that have a negative impact on nature. According to the adventurers themselves, the 'Sustainabus'. will teach you to lead a life without so much material waste, more minimalist, using only what you really need to enjoy life.

The adventurous pair will get out into nature and enjoy the benefits of outdoor living. At the same time they hope to inspire more people to make a positive change: to start living with fewer belongings and take on new adventures.

Why from Alaska to Argentina?

The Alaska-Argentina route was established by Erik and Michael with the places they will pass through and the consistent length of their journey in mind.

Starting from the north of America, they will pass through different latitudes in the centre of the continent until they reach the southernmost tip of South America in Argentina. These will be months of unparalleled adventures, in contact with totally different cultures.

They will have the opportunity to experience customs, ways of life, diverse political systems, landscapes and endless natural wonders. They are not worried about all the time they will spend on the road and the unknown. On the contrary, they are confident that in their "skoolie"They will live comfortably with everything they need.
