The climbing is no different from any other activity, even though the fear can be a major barrier. However, if used appropriately, it can be a important tool to enhance our activity.

Fear can play an important role in our daily lives. Fear at work, as a spouse or parent, or even driving, socialising with a group of strangers; fear can stand in our way and prevent us from achieving our goals. Similarly, fear in climbing and all that it brings with it can hold us back, paralyse us, and can make us give up this activity, which goes beyond sporting, being a struggle of self-improvement.

Just as preparing and training your body is essential to being a safe and successful climber, you must also prepare your mind. Strength and balance are good and helpful, but even more important is a accurate understanding of the challenges and dangers. Only then will you be able to deal with them. Like life itself, if we know and understand our fears, we can overcome them and reach greater heights and challenges.

How do you deal with fear? While the sport involves equipment and support from other climbers, it is still an activity of a person in contact with the rock; in challenge with their own fears and trajectory. And unless you can deal with that and understand it, you're setting yourself up for a big disappointment.

Understand that with rock climbing you must dive into your fears; into the subconscious that lies deep within us all.. If you do this and solve the inner problems in your mind, you will be ready to enjoy this wonderful and inspiring sport.

Business people have shown that fear of failure can be a great motivator to reach for heights that many never imagined possible. Understanding your fears, whether in rock climbing or in business or relationships, can push us to ever greater heights.

Now, go climb that wall!
