Gorges de Galamús

Visit in summer Gorges de Galamús
You can visit Gorges de Galamús, between April and September, for these days, the whole environment is full of small waterfalls and wells, which are ideal for canyoning, a pleasant and fun activity that allows you to know this wonderful natural heritage.
Because the roads to the Galamus Gorges are often very busy during the summer season, an alternative means of transport has been put in place to facilitate and protect the crossing to the site.
This protected territory can be seen from a narrow road that crosses virgin landscapes of infinite beauty. The hermitage of San Antonio de Galamús, hanging from a cliff, is a fixed stop for photos, and from this beautiful viewpoint you will find unique and incomparable panoramic views.
Walk to the Gorges de Galamús
Between Saint Paul de Fenouillet and the village of Cubières sur Cinoble is the start of the route that will take us to the Gorges de Galamús.
To get there, we start the route from the Belvedere car park, where there is a small path that allows access to the hermitage approximately 10 minutes away. There is also another access route via a staircase carved in stone on the other side of the tunnel.
This route does not require any physical condition, can be done by anyone of any age and is well signposted all along the way.
The duration of the walk depends on the pace you take, but at an average pace, the walk through Gorges de Galamús takes no more than 2 hours. You can not miss this beautiful place, marvel at its beautiful views and have fun in the entertaining activities that you can do here, the whole family can have a great time, while they know one of the most beautiful places in the park of the Pyrenees.
In addition to fun activities, the chapel of Saint Anthony attracts people who, with their petitions, hope to be heard, because many miracles are attributed to this place, which, according to the faithful, were performed by the fathers who lived here.
St Anthony's Chapel, a spiritual place
The beautiful Chapel of Saint Anthony is a place we find on the road to Gorges de Galamús, this chapel was carved directly into the rock in the 6th century, around 1872, after some hermits, lovers of the spiritual life and followers of Saint Anthony, settled there during the Middle Ages.
Many legends affirm and assure that many miracles have occurred here, attributed to the fathers who lived here and their faithful Catholicism, which attracts more and more believers and tourists, who patiently await answers to their petitions.
