Pathways

-by María Barba Guillén

Carrying doubts and fears over the years has been tiring. That's why today, with the lightness that comes from being on one of the roads, I want to go up, let's go up.

Slowly and steadily we start; it smells of boxwood. We cross the river, which sounds like spring, and meadows dotted with lilies. As we gain height we can see the pass; following the zigzags of the path our legs get there before our heads.

We continue along the path, which is now gentler, and we can intuit the sinkhole where we will later discover the lake. After a stop, we border the lake up to the pass and confidently ascend to the west until we reach the summit.

Valleys, massifs, familiar peaks: from here I feel powerful, sure of the way. In silence and while I caress you through my skin, I think to the four winds that this is the first summit to which you come with me; the first with you.
