Transplanting mountains
-by Santiago López Chao
I could only think about the objective, and it was almost impossible for me to concentrate on what I was doing at that very moment, I left it to my intuition. The memories came flooding into my mind like a torrent of water, I was unable to stop them, the only thing that calmed them was the sound of the ice axe sticking into the rock, but that lasted too little time to organise my head...
Until that fateful 13th September 2001, I had never felt so attracted to the mountains, but after the accident everything was different; I dreamt of alpine meadows, I imagined summits I had never seen before, I woke up startled when I reached the "summit" in my dreams, sometimes even scaring my wife with my screams of joy.
That new heart, not only brought me back to life, but also made this new journey an unforgettable experience!!!!
