Puigmal
-by Gemma Rica i Botia-
Sitting on top, lost in a sea of tears, as her trembling fingers clutched the rusty metal box.
The torb had combed the icicles of ice on the Puigmal cross. His last mountain before the accident.
Three years ago now, her hands tried, without luck, to hold on to the knot of eight that inevitably slipped away from her green eyes.
Marcos left her with a huge void. Gone were his jokes about how, one day, he would leave his routine marriage and put a toothbrush in her bathroom.
He could not mourn their loss, in the sight of the world, they were just fellow climbers.
Three years and two surgeries later, recovery was culminating in a peak again. A
known. A dear one. Puigmal hibernal.
Her companion gently let go of the can and opened it as she hugged her. In there...only
there was a toothbrush.
