The state of Kerala is considered a true tropical paradise, where endless, exquisitely clean beaches abound, along with lush mountains, tropical forests and coffee plantations.

Climate in Kerala in India

Temperatures on the coast rarely drop below 32 degrees Celsius and the seasons are marked by the rainy season, which runs from June to the end of September.

The architecture of the area is frankly peculiar, the houses and temples are built of fine wood and the sloping roofs are characteristic of the Kerala region.
There is also an unusual social balance, it is one of the few places where there is no extreme poverty among the population and where the level of literacy is very high, which makes Kerala a quiet area with a pleasant and peaceful atmosphere.
Places to visit are for example the capital of Kerala, Trivandrum, a quiet and pleasant city surrounded by beautiful tropical forests.Kerala, Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary

In the surroundings we can make excursions to Kovalam, one of the most famous beaches in India. In Kollama we can take a ferry which will take us on a tourist route through the network of canals and lagoons that we can find in the centre of Kerala, this area is called Backwaters.

At Alappuzha we can take another boat trip along the shores of Vembanada Lake to Kottayam. It is at this point in Kottayam that we can leave for Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, an excellent nature reserve in the Western Ghat Mountains. And the most touristy place in the Kerala area is in Kochi, a city very well prepared to receive tourists who want to visit the tourist area of Kerala.

Eco-tourism in Kerala India

But perhaps the main attraction is where you can enjoy some excellent natural scenery, such as the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, which covers an extensive mountainous region with peaks between 1200 and 1800 metres above sea level. The Periyar reservoir is the centre of the park, this pond can be up to 26 m deep. The islands that emerge from the reservoir, all of which are covered with lush tropical vegetation, are worth a visit.

There are offices in the park to help you organise your visit and visit to the Periyar Nature Reserve. In this nature reserve live the tiger, of which there are only about 20 left. Other interesting animals that we can observe in the reserve are the leopard, wild dog, climbing bear, jackal and wild cat. But without doubt the most interesting animal that characterises the area is the elephant, of which there are about 1,000 in the Periyar Nature Reserve. Other endangered species include the lion-tailed macaque and the langur. This area of the park is undoubtedly the most attractive for nature lovers and tropical natural environments.
