The Okavango Delta in Botswana is a paradise of biodiversity that can be seen on a beautiful safari from the back of an elephant. A destination only for the most adventurous, who will enjoy this ride through the heart of the jungle.

Elephant treks start from Abu Camp, a lodge in the middle of the savannah where you stay in small huts with all the comforts for the western traveller.

To get to Abu Camp, you first need to travel to Johannesburg, South Africa, where there are cheap flights from Spain. From the airport, another flight will take you to Maun, the most important town in the Okavango Delta, before taking a taxi plane to Abu Camp.Abu Camp in BotswanaElephant-back safaris in Botswana start at dawn and head deep into the savannah. Randall Moore pioneered this initiative with a number of elephants, recovered from circuses and zoos and trained by him. On the elephant's back the visitor will enjoy exceptional views and a unique experience that will last until sunset.

After the ride, a simple dinner is served, after which the camp is quiet and accommodates no more than 12 guests at any one time. In addition to the Botswana elephant safari, the guests, who are accommodated on a full-board basis, can spend time with the elephants and learn more about the animals in their environment.

In addition, open safari vehicles, a team of experienced drivers and an interpretive guide are available for those who want to explore the surrounding area and photograph big game mammals such as predators, elephant herds and buffalo. Mornings or evenings, when the temperature drops, are the ideal times to spot wildlife or stop at spectacular spots in the delta to enjoy a cup of tea.

Another recommended activity is the boat ride or mokoro, a traditional canoe of the area, through the waters of the delta canals. The mokoro ride gives the visitor a more safari-like experience and at the same time allows the visitor to enjoy the silence and listen to nature. The observation of aquatic birds such as the kingfisher is one of the attractions of this trip.

A unique experience in constant contact with nature, which the most adventurous will undoubtedly enjoy.
