Orientation - How do I find North?
Because of the sun:
At 6:00 in the morning, the sun is exactly east.
9:00 a.m. = South East
12 h = Full South
3 p.m. = Southwest
6 p.m. = West
This is solar time (-2 hours in summer, -1 hour in winter in Spain).
By the hand-watch:
To find the South at any time of the day using the sun, hold your watch horizontally, with the dial at the top, so that the sun shines on it. Point the small hand towards the sun. Then, without moving the watch, run the edge of a piece of paper or a pencil across the dial so that the angle formed by the small hand and the 12 of the watch is divided into two equal parts. This middle line will run from south to north. Caution: Set your watch to solar time!
