Yak with cheese

-by Iker Ortiz de Luzuriaga Lopez-

It was late.
Too late.

The day has been terribly hard. We suffered several setbacks throughout the day, and this caused us to lose more time than we had planned.

Fortunately, I can already see the base camp.

My stomach is rumbling. I haven't eaten for several hours and the tins of tuna at base camp and the smell of garlic and cabbage come to mind. I don't like it. I inevitably think of a nice plate of rice and lentil curry or yak and cheese.

I miss it.

Arriving at base camp, I sigh with regret. The community rejoices, but I, in whispers, lament the continuing burden the mountain imposes on me. I long for a lighter tomorrow. The harsh reality of duty lingers, temporarily overshadowing any solace the safety of the camp may offer.

I have to keep working. While others rest, the Sherpa does not rest.
