    Strong mind

    -by Mikel Soria Arbilla-

4 months ago, metatarsal fracture descending MTB, Anaconda, Navarra. When I happily believed I could return to my mountains, canyons, ascents... Two weeks before the flight to Arequipa, my wife's home town, in Ibiza, a motorbike accident.

5 years ago I saw for the first time the great Misti volcano 5820m, the one that eats men every year.

I know you can be stubborn, my friend said. The day came, 15kg on my back...

At 4500m we set up base camp, I slept for 0 min with the snoring of my tent mate and the Puma who was hanging around. 11:45 PM. We got up, a mate de coca, climb to 5200, we wanted to give up, some exhausted, me with altitude sickness, no strength, dizzy and leaning on the poles to avoid falling. We slept for 20 minutes at -15º and I recovered, ascending to my particular heaven, the summits. Tears for overcoming myself. Now my holy grail and mental strength.

Don't miss any adventure in the Pyrenees!
