Durandarte
-by David Carreres Lacasa-
When we left the Góriz refuge behind us, everyone thought we were heading for the summit of Monte Perdido on the south face. When I say everyone, I mean two other groups of adventurers with whom we had shared some little battles and three rounds of beers the night before. However, I sensed that our clothes and manners had given us away eight hours earlier.
We head northwest across the Soaso ravine and after leaving the Luenga gorge we head towards the Millaris pass. After fording some snowfields and ascending through landscapes of ice and rock, we reached the Sarrios pass, where we placed a chain anchored to the rock as best we could.
At last, we reached the gap my father had opened with his sword. Durandarte so that it would not fall into enemy hands.
I would like to think that my great-uncle Charlemagne would be proud of all of us.
