The cold is so extreme up there that her tears crystallise on the long way down her flushed cheeks.

He barely manages to pull out the notebook he always carries with him on his adventures.

In his early days in the mountains he used it to write down tips and details to help him plan his ascents.

One day he began to use it to record his feelings and score each day. Today he has taken it out more out of habit than inspiration. He can't find the words, because emotion leaves no room for inspiration.

Suddenly it is she who snatches the pencil from him and writes on the first blank page she finds - Dad, now I understand you. This is the first time of many.
