GR 11
-by Javier García Ruiz
Forty-six stages. No great effort, calmly. I don't remember overtaking anyone. I watched every sunrise and sunset without saying a word, the moonlight comforted me at night, I learnt to calculate the length of the day, I memorised all the peaks I could see. The first, the Orhi, the pyramid-shaped Anie, the Bisaurin towering above the others and in the background, the colossus, the Midi d'Ossau.
There was, of course, an extensive list of objectives. Mountains to discover, peaks to climb and to admire with my own eyes the mystical snow flower or edelweiss, among others. Always, with the exception of the occasional foggy spell, spotting the white and red markings.
Forty-six noons until that damned mushroom farmer appeared, knife in hand. A whole life on the side of a Gr 11 trail.
Beltza mushroom. Boletus Aereus.
