The last appointment
-by Maite Pariente Aylagas-.
Like every 23rd of January for the last five years, I got up early and prepared for our date. In my backpack, climbing gear, and in my stomach, thousands of butterflies fluttering.
Two hours of walking brought me closer to the base of our wall, hell and paradise all in one. For some, a strange place for a date, for us, the best in the world. I knew that wall by heart, its natural holds, the anchor points, so I started to climb it.
Slowly but surely, and with less pain in my heart, I arrived at our meeting point. I closed my eyes and waited. After a few endless seconds your embrace enveloped me and I felt at home.
Without words, with sadness, without forgetting, but with a lot of love we understood that this would be our last date. I had to let you go, I had to go on with my life; for you, for me.
