Kilian Jornet needs no introduction, known for his exploits in the world of skyrunning, ski mountaineering and mountain running, and taking it into the field of mountaineering, he crossed the Pyrenees from coast to coast in 2010. Jornet turned this challenge into a personal and emotional journey, returning to his roots in the places that saw him grow and develop as an athlete.

He managed to link the Cantabrian Sea with the Mediterranean in just over eight days, from Hondarribia to Llança, 830 km overcoming a positive difference in altitude of 40,000 m, more than 100 km and 13 hours of running per day. Kilian not only faced a physical challenge, but also embarked on a journey of introspection and connection with nature.

A Tribute to the Origins

Starting his route in the Cantabrian Sea, Kilian Jornet dipped his feet in the water before heading towards the high peaks of the Pyrenees. His route took him along paths that were part of his childhood and youth, giving him the opportunity to reconnect with the mountains that have defined him as a person and as an athlete.

This trip represented more than a feat of endurance; it was a tribute to the territories he calls home. Jornet used the occasion to highlight the importance of conserving these environments, pointing out and commenting on the local flora and fauna, demonstrating his deep respect for and connection to the environment.

In the following video you can see how Kilian and his closest relatives faced this adventure, surrounded by good memories.

Challenges and Commitment

The Trans-Pyrenees Crossing was not without its difficulties. Jornet faced adverse weather conditions, physical exhaustion and the emotional challenges that come with pushing the body to its limits. However, thanks to his incredible willpower and the unconditional support of his team, he was able to overcome these obstacles, proving that limits are made to be overcome.

In the following video you can see a glimpse of Kilian's state of mind as he takes on this formidable human and athletic challenge.

The highlight of this journey was undoubtedly Jornet's ability to share it with the community. Other runners had the opportunity to join him at different stages, thanks to the publicity provided. These moments of camaraderie strengthened the sense of community within trail running, showing that, beyond competition, companionship prevails.at the arrival in Font Romeu about twenty runners were already accompanying him.

In addition, figures such as Martin Fourcade and Paula Radcliffe joined in to welcome Kilian at key points such as Font Romeu, bringing a sense of togetherness to the world of extreme sport.

"I am pleased to have shared this adventure with so many people. Normally, 99% of the time we high-level athletes are selfish, egocentric, it is in the DNA of the competition, but having shared this journey with so many people makes you see that one alone is nothing, that we depend on so many things. I don't consider that I HAVE achieved this crossing, I consider that we HAVE achieved this crossing. The team, Joan, Greg, Patrick, Lotta, Thierry, Olivier, Sonia, David, Migoo, Edu... the family who also followed me closely, also running many kilometres, those who came to accompany me who I will not mention because there were many of you who came to give me your support... (...) I am satisfied, because times, records or victories are forgotten but the moments I have lived during this crossing will never be erased from my memory".

Kilian Jornet

On the last leg of his journey through the Pyrenees, Kilian had to face bad weather conditions, exhaustion and physical pain.
