The decline of the Escarrilla ravineone of the most popular descents in the world. easy and spectacular Tena Valley and Panticosa, in the heart of the Pyrenees.

In this fun, intuitive and adventurous activity, we will descend a riverbed, avoiding the obstacles that we encounter: overhangs, small cliffs, aquatic cliffs, chaos of stones and logs, surrounded by orange walls of dozens of metres...

The beauty, level and timetable make it a highly recommendable canyon both for the initiation to descend accompanied by the family.

How go to

This aesthetic descent is located between the Lanuza reservoir and the village of Escarrilla. From Biescas on the N-136 towards Formigal, we pass through the village of Escarrilla, from where we have several options. Attention to the displacements, since they are track and road.

  • Park on the esplanade on the right, just at the end of the village (fountain). From here we walk to the entrance of the tunnel, to take the track on the right, which borders it and takes us to the exit. After about 200m along the road you will find another track on the right, which takes you to the foot of the reservoir.
  • Park to the left of the tunnel entrance.
  • Do not park on the track past the tunnel. It belongs to the C.H.E. and work is often carried out there.

Approach

Go down the track towards the riverbed until you reach a signpost, from where a well-marked path leads off to the right (there are even some fixed ropes to make the descent easier). 5 minutes.

Descent

Once in the river, and through open stretches, we will gradually descend through cold-water pools. As we enter the bottom of the narrowing ravine, we will find a great chaos of trunks and enormous embedded blocks.
