Stronger than vinegar
-by Santiago Ceña Molares
These are those moments of maximum effort in which, concentrated and aware only of the detail, the support and the pain in your fingertips, when it seems that everything has stopped and you are the only one. When your companion guides you, but you don't hear him because the mountain's own heartbeat is louder. When later, over a beer, you remember those moments, so long and so brief, but which last a lifetime. And then the rest happens at a speed that is difficult to express in words, as the mind expands and you either fall or win, fly or chain yourself together.
There, at the foot of the mountain, in whatever school it is, you feel stronger than vinegar. You feel that the training was worth the early start, the cold and the hunger or the sticking or the calluses on your fingers.
Whether in the Serra Grosa or in Alcalalí, in Sella or in Foradà or on a wall that you can't remember its name and yet it is always in your mind.
