Peñagolosa
-by Francisco José Robles Cruz
August afternoon in Segorbe. As if called by the spirit of a nymph, I heard the voice of the Peñagolosa, packed my rucksack and went hitchhiking.
On the banks of the Montanejos river, alone and naked, I had a good swim when I woke up and hours later, thanks to a free soul and his little daughter, I arrived at Villahermosa:
-Nature, thank you for bringing me. Tonight look to the top and I'll be shining my lantern at you.
Ahead, a crossing with time to risk my life in the Carbo pools.
Exhausted and with little afternoon I stopped; "I can't take it anymore, I think I'll spend the night here".
Something lifted me up, a bend and ... the sign: "Welcome to the Peñagolosa".
With new strength to climb, just short of the summit; two clouds kissing each other left a light to accommodate the sun.
Between tears and laughter, I shouted to the four winds....
"What a day I've made for myself mate!!!"
