    Núria Sanctuary - Ulldeter Refuge

    ↔️ Distance: 11.6 km
    📈 Unevenness (+1.000), (-720) 📉
    🕒 Time: 5h00min (running time non-stop)
⚠️ Difficulty: With snow, a ski pole and crampons may be necessary.
💧 Water: There won't be any problem; there are several streams along the stage.
Suggestions: The stage can be extended to Setcases (8km; 2h40min). Another option is, once we are at the Pic Superior de la Vaca, instead of following the marked route, we can continue climbing without difficulty up the Pic Inferior de la Vaca (2820m), the Pic de l’Infern (2869m) and the Bastiments (2883m), before connecting with the GR11 at the Coll de la Marrana.

📌 (0h00min; 0 kms) Nuria Sanctuary (1.967m). Circumnavigate the Sanctuary from the rear, pass by a meteorological observatory and cross a small bridge over the stream of Noufonts. We head to the right to connect with the path that climbs up the valley leading to the collados of Noucreus and Noufonts. The path gives way to the path and soon we see the place where the streams💧 of Noucreus and Noufonts meet. We cross the stream of Noufonts over the Pont de L’Escuder and immediately arrive at a crossroads.

📌 (0h40min; 1.8 kms) Cruce Noucreus-Noufonts (2.180m). Although in many (old) publications the GR11 is still indicated as Noufonts, currently the red and white markings lead to the Coll de Noucreus, a faster and more direct option. We will therefore continue along the path on the right that leads up the valley of Noucreus through the Coma de les Molleres and the Coma de Noucreus. In the final stretch, the path rises steeply, reaching a col with expansive views and turning left to gain the Coll de Noucreus in about 5-10 minutes.

In the Collado de Noucreus, as its name indicates, there are 9 iron crosses in memory of a group of skiers who died in the 19th century due to the Torb, as this meteorological phenomenon caused by the combination of surface snow and hurricane-force winds is known here. Next to the crosses is also the 510 border marker.

📌 (2h15min; 4.8 kms) Collado de Noucreus (2.790m). We connect with the ARP (without signaling). From here, the trail follows the border ridge between peaks located at 2800m. We skirt to the north the Pic de la Fossa del Gegant (2808m) and descend to the Coll de Carança (2726m); we continue ascending to the Pic Inferior de la Vaca (2826m), pass the Coll de la Vaca (2793m) and leave the Pic Superior de la Vaca (2820m) to continue along the divide until…

📌 (3h05min; 6.6 kms) Collado de Tirapits (2,775m). We turn left (north-east) and begin the descent. In 10 minutes we pass the Tirapits Barraca (only in case of extreme necessity). We continue descending the valley, leaving the Torrent de Les Barraques to the right, until in a more or less flat area we find ourselves again with the GR11.7 variant coming from Nuria. At that moment we cross a stream💧 that appears on the left and begin the ascent to...

📌 (4h15min; 10.1 kms) Collado de la Marrana (2,524m). Wide panoramic view. We descend the small circus through a steep path and continue down through the bottom of the valley, crossing a ski trail and arriving at…

    📌 (5h00min; 11.6 kms) Ulldeter Refuge (2,220m).
