Ulldeter Refuge - Setcases - Molló

    ↔️ Distance: 20.0 km
    📈 Unevenness (+625), (-1.670) 📉
    🕒 Time: 6h40min (travel time) non-stop)
⚠️ Difficulty: Without difficulty, except for the distance and the elevation difference.
💧 Water: Even in Setcases we won't have a water problem. Between Setcases and Molló we will find some streams of questionable quality. It is better to stock up before starting that stretch.

📌 (0h00min; 0 kms) Refuge of Ulldeter (2,220m). We will descend along the access path to the refuge until we reach a cattle track (small parking area) of the road that climbs to the Vallter 2000 ski resort.

📌 (0h20min; 0.7 kms) Road (2.085m). We will avoid the road by taking a series of shortcuts until the last curve, where we will follow it to the lower parking lot.

This second parking lot was built in 2004 and modified the old route of the GR11. On most maps you will find that this place appears correctly with the name of Pla dels Hospitalets; however, in the Pla de la Molina, we will find a panel that incorrectly places it there.

We cross it in search of yellow markings that lead to a wide path that runs alongside the Ter River💧, «in company» with an overhead power line. The red and white markings soon appear. A little further down, about 20 minutes later, we pass the river💧 Font del Saüc.

📌 (1h30min; 4.0 kms) Pla de la Molina (1.595m). We return to the road at a steep bend where there usually are parked cars. We find some information panels; one of them indicates the GR11 climbing up the road from the station for about 200m and then along a path to the right. We don't see the markings and we descend down the road. After 20 minutes we turn left at a source💧 and 2.2kms later, just before passing a bridge before Setcases, we found another💧 (Font del Pont Nou). A few meters further on we will take the crossing that indicates the urban center of Setcases; we will pass another source💧.

📌 (2h40min; 8.0 kms) Setcases (1,270m). We will cross the village following the Camí d’Ull de Ter street until we leave it again on the road. Roughly halfway through the village we will see a bridge (d’en Xacó) that crosses the Ter, on which there are several panels with information about the routes. Crossing the bridge, source💧 And continue along the right path. From here begins a long ascent that will pass through paths, shortcuts, and trails. The GR11 enters the pine forest; about 1700m high we leave for a wide horizontal path that we follow to the left and that has been occupied to form a corral. Shortly after, to the right, a path begins that gains altitude and leaves us in an area of meadows; here we will continue a few turns in the grass that lead towards a saddle crossed by a wire fence. The markings turn to the left, parallel to the wire fence; we gain a small elevation and descend to the other side, to…

📌 (4h25min; 12.2 kms) Collado de Lliens (1,867m). We crossed the wire fence and continued along the middle slope, among pines, under Puig Sistra (1989m). The path branches off to the divide to continue down it; we pass the Collada de la Fembra Morta (1726m) and we leave to an open area under Puig Moscós (1739m) where we pass a stream -the area is somewhat flooded- and we found a fence that goes in a north-south direction.

📌 (5h25min; 15.8 kms) Alambrada (1.660m). We crossed to the other side and followed it for about 200m until the GR11 splits off to go down to the left to cross through a wooded area. At the end of the forest we came to a path (right), which crosses a small stream. stream💧. In the distance, Can Pletis can already be distinguished.

📌 (6h05min; 18.1 km) Can Pletis (1,366m). From Molló a well-maintained path leads here. The path is made of concrete; the first chalets begin to appear and we join another path that is wider. Then it becomes made of gravel and some yellow markings of the Camino de Santiago appear. A washroom at the entrance to the village and a source💧 (Font Vella) welcomes us.

    📌 (6h40min; 20.0 kms) Molló (1,180m).
