    Molló - Beget - Talaixà

    ↔️ Distance: 23.0 km
    📈 Unevenness (+735m), (-1.200m) 📉
    🕒 Time: 6h00min (running time) non-stop)
⚠️ Difficulty: The heat in the summer can be the biggest difficulty. The considerable drop in altitude compared to previous stages and the increasingly influential Mediterranean climate are evident.
💧 Water: We will find several points where we can get water, such as Can Serra and Beget, reaching the Pla de la Plantada or Talaixà.

Notice: According to some hikers we have been informed, between stages 40 and 42 there is a plague of Asian beetles that devour the logs. The beetles do not cause an allergic reaction in humans; however, they leave a sticky silk thread that sometimes forms a kind of spider web, which is very annoying when walking.

📌 (0h00min; 0 kms) Molló (1,180m). From Plaça Major we will head down Carrer de l’Església, leaving the church of Santa Cecilia on the left. We will reach a first road that enters the village; turn left, towards a roundabout with a monument in the center, on the road between Camprodon and the Coll d’Ares. Turn right and continue on the asphalt for about 100 meters until we find a path that descends to the left, sharing the route with the Camino de Santiago. We descend through lush forest, between stone walls, until the magnificent Romanesque bridge of Molí de Can Fumat. Then we leave on a track, leaving a path on the right that indicates Molló and pass by a sewage treatment plant before reaching a crossroads (bridge) where the ascent to the…

📌 (0h40min; 2.4 kms) Collet de la Costa (1,172m) where a signpost indicates the different routes that pass through here. We will continue along the path on the right, among meadows and small ascents and descents, until we reach a hill crossed by a track. Do not heed the sign and continue straight ahead, through a meadow surrounded by a fence (well-signposted). The route is interesting; it follows a path through forests, meadows, and farmhouses.

📌 (1h20min; 4.5 kms) Coll de la Boixeda (GIV road – 5231) (1,095m). On the other side of the road there is a rest area, a viewpoint, a couple of benches, trash cans and several bins. Ignore the path that starts a little further down (left) and look for the markings that cross the meadow in front. The path descends steeply to Can Serra, where on the porch of a house there is a source💧. A little further on we reached Casa Etxalde, where a path leads. We follow it for about 500m until we reach a closed curve to the left (the path climbs up towards the nearby road), where we turn off to continue straight ahead along a somewhat blurred path that crosses a meadow. Pay attention here to the turn to the right. The path now continues through the forest, joins a track and passes Can Planas (rural accommodation), where we leave shortly afterwards (100m) on a path that descends to the right, towards Molí d’en Sorolla. A sign warns us that we are in Alta Garrotxa. We leave the old mill to the left and cross the stream (Riu de Rocabruna). The path continues through the forest, increasingly Mediterranean in influence, surrounding the Turó del Castell (1000m) from the south, where the ruins of the Castle of Rocabruna are located. We pass some buildings in ruins and we leave the path again on the road. Follow it a few meters to the left and continue through lush forest, along the Riu de Beget. A kilometer further on, the GR11 leaves the road again and we follow it for half a kilometer before taking a steep path that takes us to Beget.

📌 (2h30min; 11.0 kms) Beget (530m) It is a beautiful tourist town. It is worth visiting the Church of Sant Cristòfor and strolling through the cobbled streets among carefully restored houses. Crossing Beget and exiting at the lower part, crossing a single-eyed stone bridge. The GR11 is not very well marked within the town and also crosses the GR83, also marked in red and white, which could lead to confusion. After crossing the bridge, we continue along a wide path that ends by taking us to the GIV-5231 road. Continue along the road for a kilometer, until just before a bridge over the Beget stream, where we turn left to continue on a concrete path. We will follow it for 1.5kms, through fields, without paying attention to the various intersections to the left that lead to the masias, until Planes del Barracot. We will leave it when it rises to the left, in a zigzag, and continue to the right, along a path that crosses the Beget stream and leads to…

📌 (3h15min; 14.5 kms) La Farga (446m). An abandoned farmhouse where the track ends and a steep climb begins on a path through dense forest to Coll dels Mulls (700m). On the climb we find some abandoned houses (Les Feixanes) and some more on the descent, near Coll Joell (502m), where the path gives way to a track (a little further on we pass a stream💧) that ends up descending gently along the river💧. At the end of this stretch we will pass by a covered area with several tables (private property) and a little further on, a source💧.

📌 (4h55min; 19.9 km) Pla de la Plantada (362m). The red and white markings leave the road leading to Oix through the Salt Liberals pass, and cross the river through a narrow walkway. Here begins the ascent to Talaixà, which we will mostly do on foot, alternating with some small stretches of track.

📌 (6h00min; 23 kms) Talaixà (735m). Free and uninhabited refuge. Next to the refuge there is a small source💧. The water comes from a reservoir that accumulates the scarce flow from the spring along with rainwater. The water is treated with bleach, although, as can be read on the source itself, it does not offer any health guarantee.
