    Talaixà - Albanyà

    ↔️ Distance: 19.3 km
    📈 Unevenness (+760), (-1.275) 📉
    🕒 Time: 6h15min (travel time non-stop)
⚠️ Difficulty: The biggest difficulty may be the heat.
💧 Water: After Sant Aniol d’Aguja, it is difficult to find water. Past Can Nou there is a spring that could be dry.

Notice: According to some hikers we have been informed, between stages 40 and 42 there is a plague of Asian beetles that devour the logs. The beetles do not cause an allergic reaction in humans; however, they leave a sticky silk thread that sometimes forms a kind of spider web, which is very annoying when walking.

📌 (0h00min; 0 kms) Talaixà (735m). The trail descends through lush Mediterranean forest to the ruins of La Quera (15′) to continue on foot. We will continue descending for another 15 minutes, until we see a path that leaves to the left and runs halfway up the slope, through very steep terrain, along the so-called Salt de la Novia. We face a small ascent and descent again until…

📌 (1h15min; 3.6 kms) Sant Aniol d’Aguja (446m), where there is a source💧, an ideal area for camping and of course, the Romanesque hermitage of St Aniol and the ruins of the old refuge.

Next to the fountain there is a path that leads north – following the Riera de Sant Aniol – that leads to the Gorg Blau (300m), a magnificent pool of crystal clear waters where you can take a bath, and a little further on, to the Salt del Brull (650m).

The small monastery of Sant Aniol d’Aguja was founded in 859 by a community of Benedictine monks. Due to its isolation, it soon became dependent on the Cathedral of Girona and in 1003 the community was moved to Sant Llorenç del Mont, a few kilometers away.

Next to the chapel stands a large building that housed the former refuge of Sant Aniol. Currently, some groups from the area (Friends of Sant Aniol d'Aguja) They are working on rehabilitating the shelter, although it is difficult to know when it will be finished.

We crossed a bridge and left St. Aniol d’Aguja behind us. The path slopes down until it reaches the Riera de la Comella, where it changes direction (turns left) and begins a steep climb to…

📌 (2h35min; 6.5 kms) Coll Roig (830m). The climb does not end here; we will continue ascending to the left. The terrain is somewhat broken; there are alternating paths and trails until we reach a track near Collado de Principi (1129m). On our right, Puig de Bassegoda (1374m), the highest peak of the Garrotxa. We continue along the track for 5 minutes until…

📌 (3h50min; 9.9 kms) Coll de Bassegoda (1,102m). The trail starts to descend; immediately we take a path to the left that descends quickly to the Refuge of Bassegoda – Can Galan in 7 minutes after which we reach…

📌 (4h25min; 11.5 kms) Can Nou (770m). This is where a gravel track from Albanyà leads to concrete. As soon as we leave, we pass a source💧 (very scarce, does not inspire confidence). You can go down the track all the time, although we prefer to follow the yellow markings on a local trail that descends more directly, avoiding some curves. The end of the stage is on a track.

    📌 (6h15min; 19.3 kms) Albanyà (362m).
