Situation:
Aragonese Pyrenees, headwaters of the Ordesa Valley and Pineta.
When to go:
From mid-June to the end of September.
Difficulties of the route:
Without being difficult, this peak is demanding and requires good physical preparation, perhaps with the help of a guide or a companion.
Complicated sections:
- Be careful because not all cairns indicate the best steps.
Recommended equipment:
– Ice axe and crampons almost indispensable in June.
- Waterproof shoes, and gaiters appreciated.
- The sticks are very useful.
- Belt and rope for the two steps already mentioned.
- Sunglasses and sunscreen.
This 3,328-metre-high peak borders the Gavarnie Cirque. It is also one of the three highest summits, Three SororesIt is located in the most north-western area of all of them. The route that starts from the meadow of the Ordesa Valleycontinues in the Góriz Hut and ascends the route Monte Perdido. After arriving at the Frozen Lake you can turn off to the left until you reach the top.
