Climb to Adi (1457 m) from Urkiaga
El Adi (1457m) is a well-known mountain in the north of Navarre, located in the Cantabrian-Mediterranean watershed. It is in the Quinto Real mountain complex; a territory of beech-covered bottoms and bare mountains. Within the Quinto Real, the Urkiaga pass is the main access to the complex.
On part of the route we will coincide with the Pyrenean Path - GR 11The red and white markings here and there bear witness to this.
0h 00' The starting point is at the top of the Urkiaga pass (912m), the main access to the Quinto Real complex, an obligatory stop on the trans-Pyrenean road that links Eugui (Esteríbar) with Esnazu (Alduides). If you are coming from Eugui, take the track that comes off to the right of the road on the same hill.
0h03' As soon as we start walking, we leave the track and take a path through beech trees that starts on the left.
0h25' The path we are walking along rejoins the track we left at the beginning. We reach a concrete track.
0h 35' We come to a fork. We take the left branch.
0h 45' The track reaches a wire fence with a gate, which we cross. We are at the Adi pass. In the photo you can see the different directions. From here, we follow the wire fence, going up the slope, to the top of Adi.
1h 20' Adi summit (1,457 m). In 45 minutes we are back in the car.
If you want to spend the night in the area, the nearest village from the Urkiaga pass is Eugui (11kms). In Eugui some hostels coordinate transport for mountaineers from the Urkiaga pass.
