    1. North Face of Vignemale

    The imposing north face of the Vignemale (3,298 m), the highest mountain in the French Pyrenees, is a spectacle of hanging glaciers and sheer walls. This icy corner is a paradise for mountaineers and photographers, especially at dawn, when the ice and rocks turn pink in winter. The Ossoue glacier below this face is one of the largest in the Pyrenees.

    2. Gavarnie

    The Gavarnie Cirque, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a natural amphitheatre with walls over 1,500 metres high. Its main waterfall, at 423 metres, is the highest in France. It is ideal for a simple, exploratory walk, looking for the "photo", but climbers will find world-class ice routes in winter.

    3. Rolando Gap

    This spectacular 40-metre high and 70-metre wide gate on the French-Spanish border is one of the most iconic wonders of the Pyrenees. According to legend, it was opened with a sword blow. by Roland, nephew of Charlemagne.

    4. Ibones de Anayet

    The Anayet lakes, with the profile of the Anayet peak (2,574 m) and the Midi d'Ossau reflected in their waters, are a photographic dream. Access is easy from Formigaland the area is perfect for a Pyrenean-style picnic, with marmots as spectators.

    5. Midi d'Ossau from Lac d'Ayous

    The Midi d'Ossau (2,884 m), with its unmistakable shape, looks like a volcanic colossus emerging from the waters of the Lac d'Ayous. This view is one of the most famous in the Pyrenees. From the nearby refuge, the clear nights offer film-like starry skies. Reaching the lakes can be a nice family outing.

    6. Waterfalls in the Pineta Valley

    The Pineta Valley is a festival of waterfalls, especially in spring. The most outstanding ones, such as the Cinca Waterfall, fall down rock escarpments forming visual spectacles.

    7. Narrow waterfall in Ordesa

    The Cascada del Estrecho waterfall in Ordesa National Park is a torrent that looks like something out of a fairytale. With its crystal clear waters tumbling down between narrow walls and green moss, it is the perfect place to play with the shutter speed in your photos.

    8. Ponytail

    La Cola de Caballo, at the end of the Ordesa Valleyis the icing on the cake for those who follow the path of the Senda de los Cazadores, or for those who walk along the bottom of the valley until they come across it. Its fan-shaped waterfall is a classic for those looking for an interesting postcard of the Pyrenees.

    9. Sauth Deth Pish

    This waterfall, tucked away in the Aran Valley, offers a bucolic setting with pastures and dreamy forests. It is a popular spot for both hikers and those looking for a picnic spot with a view. In winter, it becomes a frozen scene worthy of a film.

    10. Pont d'Espagne

    This historic pass, at 2,299 metres, was a former smugglers' route between Spain and France. Its views of the valleys on both sides are a spectacle, especially at dawn. In winter, it becomes a challenge for mountain skiers. A nice way to discover the area is the the Cascades trail in Cauterets.

    11. Ibon de Plan

    The Ibón de Plan is pure magic. Legend has it that only the pure of heart can see the fairies that inhabit its waters. This glacial lake, surrounded by pine trees and with the Cotiella in the background, looks like a natural mirror. Sunrise here is pure visual poetry.

    12. Gorges d'Holzarté

    This canyon, with its 150-metre-high suspension bridge, is one of the wildest spots in the French Pyrenees. Cross the bridge if you have nerves of steel and enjoy the views of the Olhadoko River and its wooded surroundings. Route to the Holtzarte Footbridge.
