La Renclusa mountain hut: at the foot of the Aneto mountain.
The shelter of La Renclusaat the foot of the Maladeta massif, is the last "civilised" place for those undertaking the ascent to the summit of the Pyrenees, the Aneto (3,404m). Located on the northern slope of the massif, it is also the starting point for more than twenty summits that exceed the 3000m barrier, as well as a strategic stop on traverses such as the return to the Aneto, the variant GR11.5 or the High Pyrenean Route (ARP).
The construction of the La Renclusa mountain hut was promoted by the Centre Excursionista de Catalunya and it was inaugurated in August 1916. Since then, the reality of this and other refuges has changed a lot. The society in which we live and the greater influx of mountaineers today pose a series of environmental challenges.
On 6 October we were able to see in La2a new chapter of the Green Beetle in which we were shown the considerable difficulties involved in the sustainable management of such a construction, the daily life of the refuge, the stories of people who are just passing through and the stories of the rangers who have dedicated their lives to it.
Here is the video of this magnificent report.
