Basking in the Mediterranean sunshine between Sicily and Africa, Malta and its neighbouring islands of Gozo and Comino have a colourful and complex history from Neolithic and Medieval times to the present day. Malta may be known as a tourist destination, but it also offers a wealth of historic walks, stunningly beautiful and dramatic architecture and superb scenery, especially around the cliffs and coastlines: highlights include the World Heritage Site of Old Valletta, the historic buildings and historic monuments of Malta's many historic villages, and the idyllic circuit of Comino, the smallest of the Maltese islands.

Spring is the best time to walk here: summer can be too hot, while winter is fine, but can be rainy and even a bit cold.
