Francis' Way: From Florence to Assisi and Rome

The Way of St. Francis: 550 km of month-long pilgrimage from Florence via Assisi to Rome. Divided into 28-day stages, the route starts in Florence and ends in Vatican City. Stages range from 8km to 30km with plenty to see, including ancient ruins, picturesque villages, national treasures and impressive churches.

When to go?

The pilgrimage route is possible all year round, but is best done from April to June and from mid-August to October. Spring, summer and autumn. Winters are also possible, except at higher elevations where snow is common.

Difficulty

Some steep climbs and descents, but no special equipment is required. Although the route includes climbs and descents up to 1200m, no special equipment is required - although your hiking boots and socks definitely need to be worn well.
