Vielha will close the BANFF Mountain Film Festival 2024 in the Pyrenees

  • After passing through Jaca and the Benasque Valley, the tour bids farewell to the Pyrenees with the mountaineer Denis Urubko as the big star.
  • The prestigious mountain film festival visits the Val d'Aran with screenings, conferences, workshops and a photographic exhibition.

The Spanish tour of one of the oldest and most prestigious mountain film festivals in the world began in Jaca with a full house and continued successfully in the Benasque Valley. Now, the BANFF Mountain Film Festival World Tour is coming to Vielha with a careful selection of renowned screenings, as well as talks, workshops and interpretative outings.

Open fire on thursday 28th march at the Bibliotèca Generau de Vielha the participative workshop "And you, how much do you know about snow and avalanches?" conducted by ACNA. On the same site is already available and until Sunday the photo exhibition Rowalingby Arkaitz Saiz.

The action continues on Friday 29th in Cinema Era Audiovisuau with an informative talk on avalanches and the star conference of the day "La Guinda del Pastel", by Marta Jiménez, plus the first 3 screenings of the festival.

On Saturday 30th, an interpretative outing in avalanche terrain given by ACNA in the morning and, in the afternoon, the eagerly awaited conference by the mountaineer Denis Urubkowho will tackle his attempt on Gasherbrum and will also be available for a book-signing session in the same cinema. five screenings will close the day, among them Chronoceptionthe story of a 3-week skiing and snowboarding expedition in the unexplored mountains of Asia.

The programme will be completed with the screening of 5 audiovisual works related to extreme sports, travel, adventure and nature. Highlights include SoundscapeThe short adaptive climbing film, which received the BANFF's own Creative Excellence Award.

Once the stop in Vielha is over, the BANFF Mountain Film Festival World Tour intends to extend the tour beyond the Pyrenees with new venues which, when confirmed, will be announced through the festival's official channels.
