What is the essential equipment for a camping trip?
Enjoying a camping adventure will depend to a large extent on the basic equipment that will accompany us, which will depend on the destination, the climate and the profile of the camper, as there are people who need more or less elements to enjoy a few days of camping.
Camping is usually synonymous with adventure, being in contact with nature and getting away from the usual noisy environment of the city. Camping can be done with family or friends, in beach or mountain environments, but in any case we need to prepare this camping with some time and having clear what equipment we will need according to our needs, to the duration of our stay in the campsite and to the area where we are going to be camping. The success of these days will depend on the equipment, and in this case link we can find and compare the essential items to take with us on our camping days.
Here we are going to show you some basic items that you should take with you on your camping trip. These are the essentials; you can expand on them according to your needs. Unless you are using a caravan, the first essential item is to have a good tent, as this will be your home during your camping days. And we say it is essential because, when camping, the tent will serve as protection from the sun or rain during the day and night, as it will be the place where we will recover our strength. Depending on where we are going, we will have to choose a suitable tent for the sun or rain, as well as if we are walking, by car or by bicycle, as we will have to carry it during the journey and the weight will be an element to consider as important as the material with which we will protect ourselves.
Sleeping bag and torch
Equally important is the sleeping bag. It is another essential element in our camping days. As with the tent, the sleeping bag should be chosen according to your physical characteristics and the terrain and climate of the place where you are camping. Basically, it must meet two conditions: it must be comfortable and protect you from the weather. For more experienced campers, and those less accustomed to camping, we recommend adding a kind of mattress that acts as an insulator with respect to the ground and that will help us to get a better rest. The pillow is another element that we can add to prepare our 'bed' during these camping days.
Now that we know these two essential elements for every good camper, let's move on to the basic day-to-day utensils. A rucksack is a must, both for moving from one area to another and for excursions in the vicinity of our campsite. The camping chair for resting both inside and outside our tent is another necessary item. The best choice? A chair that is small, foldable, light and comfortable, so that we can transport it easily and enjoy it during our stay at the campsite.
Another essential item is the water bottle, as staying hydrated is a priority on any excursion. If possible, we should opt for a bottle that allows us to keep the water cool. Other characteristics are that it should be made of aluminium or stainless steel; and as far as possible we should discard plastic bottles. They do not conserve water well and cannot be reused, as well as being counterproductive for the environment. The same applies to the kitchen utensils that we can take with us to replenish our strength. To this (cups, plates...) we should add a portable gas cooker to cook with. Remember that in the countryside, on the beach or in the mountains there are usually no power sockets. The same goes for light, so carrying a good torch or a portable lamp is essential for lighting. If we forget it, we can always use our mobile phone's torch, although we should also be aware that its battery may run out, so we should take several external batteries with us. Also, having a mobile phone is a safety measure in case of any kind of mishap.
Clothing, health and hygiene
A cut or abrasion can always happen and should not spoil our camping adventure. For this, we recommend carrying a small first aid kit with some gauze, disinfectant and painkillers. And, in these social times, don't forget to bring a few face masks and hydroalcoholic gels.
And what else should we take with us on our camping trip? Now it will depend on your personality and the area you are going to, but perhaps a small portable cooler where you can keep drinks and food; a bag of mountain clothes; hygiene products (comb, soap, toothbrush...); mackintosh; insect repellent; sun cream, among everything you consider basic to enjoy a good few days camping in a campsite.
