The wait is over. The sixth edition of the X-Pyrone of the competitions of hike & fly The world's most demanding, is about to begin. The 23 June 202445 teams from all over the world will gather in Hondarribia to start an epic journey that will take them through the majestic Pyrenees, finishing on the Mediterranean coast in El Port de la Selva.

An epic race from coast to coast

The X-Pyr challenges its participants to cross the Pyrenees using only their walking and paragliding skills. This year's route includes 9 strategically placed waypoints that pilots must pass, from the highest mountains to the deepest valleys. Highlights of the route include Monte Perdido, Vall de Núria and the iconic Pic des Trois Seigneurs.

Elite participants

The 2024 competition will feature a mix of experienced veterans and up-and-comers. While undefeated champion Chrigel Maurer will not be taking part this year, eyes will be on top contenders such as Maxime Pinot and Pierre Remy from France, and Simon Oberrauner from Austria. In addition, the race will have its first African participant and a diversity of ages ranging from 22 to 54.

Since its first edition in 2012, the X-Pyr has grown in popularity and complexity. Originally, with just 14 teams, the race has evolved into a high-profile international event, attracting some of the world's best athletes in hike & fly.
