A place to enjoy a short day in the mountains and to enjoy the spectacular views that the mountain will offer us. AnetoIts crests (Tempestades, Margalida and Russel) and glacier. One way to get there is from Hospital Planswhere we can park our car and catch a bus to take us to La Besurta (service in summer, outside this date the barrier is raised and can be accessed by car). This excursion can be an extension of the walk that takes us to the Aigualluts sinkhole or Forau d'Aiguallutswhere the meltwater carried by the river disappears from its banks. Ésera.
The Lake el Puerto de Toro, or Ibón del Coll del Torois one of the most visited places in the Aragonese area of the Pyrenees. It is in the Posets-Maladet Natural Park, in the Benasque Valley, and is a mid-mountain excursion that offers spectacular views.
The route to the lake passes through the mythical Forau o D'Aigualluts drain and by the waterfall of the same name (where the waters of the glacier of the Aneto are swallowed up by the earth and then emerge in the Aran Valley), places that are definitely worth visiting if you are travelling in the Pyrenees. Almost all the way we have a view of the king of the Pyrenees (Aneto). When the route ends, we suddenly see the pass where we find the ibón and on the other side of it the Artiga de Lin Valley."
The route
The starting point to reach the Ibón el Coll de Toro is the La Besurta car park area. At first the path shares the same direction as the one leading to La Renclusa Refuge (2,140 m), but it soon turns off to the left, crosses a rocky threshold and enters the depressed area of Plan d'Aiguallut (2,025 m).
Soon you will reach the famous Forau D'Aiguallut, the sinkhole through which the water from the glacier disappears as it seeps underground, to appear, kilometres later, in the Aran Valley, on the other side of the Pyrenees, before flowing into the Atlantic.
From the Forau we must head towards the Plan d'Aiguallut from where we can see the meanders coming from the Barrancs (on the right) and L'Escaleta (on the left) valleys as well as the Aneto and its glacier. If we cross the Plan d'Aiguallut on the left bank to the bottom of the valley, we will find signs indicating the path to the Coll or Puerto de Toro.
Then we have to climb a path that reveals numerous peaks as we go up: Peña Negra (2,581m), Mallo de la Artiga (2,718m), Forcanada (2,872m), Pico de Barrancs (2,887m), Pico dels Aigualluts (2,708m) and Aneto (3,404m).
As we continue ascending we will reach a fork where we must take the path to the left which will lead us to the Ibón el Coll de Toro. If we follow the path to the right we will reach the Tuc de Mulleres, a summit of 3,014 metres.
After a short and fast climb, we will reach the top of the pass and we will be able to observe the Ibón el Coll de Toro in all its splendour. The only thing left to do is to go down to contemplate it closely, walk along its banks and rest for a while before returning while we contemplate the two enormous peaks that flank it, the Peña Negra and the Mallo de la Artiga.
