Tour of the Eiger (Jungfrau Region)
Over a 9 to 10 day trip, this 111 km classic trek will take you on a horseshoe circuit through some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the world. Bernese OberlandIn the shadow of such iconic peaks as the Wetterhorn, Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. The route starts in Schynige Platte and ends in Wilderswil; it takes in pastures, ridges, peaks and passes, skirts exquisite mountain lakes, and takes in waterfalls, canyons and glaciers.
Practical guide
When to go?
Late June to late September, with all facilities open from July to August, but trails are busier and prices are higher; September is recommended.

Flights to Geneva, Zurich or Basel.
The main tourist resorts in the area are: Interlaken, Grindelwald, Mürren, Lauterbrunnen and Wengen.
Difficulty and tips
Accommodation is plentiful, and the route has many alternatives to adverse weather conditions.
The route is well signposted. It has several short exposed sections (mostly with fixed cable).
Not to be missed
- Views of famous alpine peaks such as the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
- Lauterbrunnen Valley.
- The Jungrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.
- Glaciers such as the Eigergletscher and waterfalls such as the Trümmelbach Falls.
